Monte Zuccone (1423 m) is a large rounded mountain that rises on the main watershed of the Ligurian Apennines, and overlooks the Cento Croci Pass on the western side. 
The northern slope, overlooking the Taro Valley, dominates the Bedonia basin; the southern side overlooks the upper Vara Valley, and in particular the Varese Ligure basin. 
Due to its very regular, rather prominent and isolated dome shape, Monte Zuccone is easily recognizable even from afar. The summit ridge of the mountain is arranged in a semicircle with the concavity facing south, towards the Fosso delle Volpi valley. The summit of Zuccone is located on the eastern side of the semicircle. On the western side is a low-lying forepeak (1343 m), characterized on the southeast face by the so-called Libya of Pecorara. It is a high escarpment of rocks, grass, and rubble, caused by an ancient landslide. The northernmost point of the semicircle is a key point: a massive buttress branches off to the north, forming the watershed between the upper Taro Valley and the valley of the Lubiana River, its tributary. This ridge culminates at an altitude of 1333 m, Monte Torletto (1255 m) and Monte di Tòrnolo (1187 m), low-lying peaks completely covered by vast beech and chestnut forests. The summit of Mount Zuccone is broad and spacious, consisting of a clearing surrounded by beech trees. In 1900, a small chapel dedicated to the Madonna dell'Alpe was built there, but it slowly fell into disrepair and was destroyed. Today the well-maintained summit is marked by a metal cross and a sacred shrine with a small Madonna, faced by a small altar.
